One of my favorite things we do as Terre Haute Young Leaders is our Subtle Service program.
As its name suggests, Subtle Service is a way to help meet needs of community programs through small donations. The Community Engagement Committee works to identify and select community programs who need donations and to coordinate all of the details for donations. We highlight these events and giving opportunities once a quarter. In the past, we have donated socks to Shoe Bus, school supplies to various organizations, food for schools’ backpack food programs, gently used formal wear for Night To Shine, supplies for CODA and many others.
It is through the generosity of the members of Terre Haute Young Leaders and those who attend our events. Together we can all give a little to make a bigger impact.
April Subtle Service
Our April Subtle Service program will be gathering donations for Next Step Foundation, Inc., a program providing both residential and outpatient services for alcohol and drug addiction. Dana Simons, Next Step Executive Director, was our speaker in January, providing valuable insights about work-life balance.
At any given time, Next Step Foundation has 30-35 people in their residential programs. The items they have requested are journals (notebooks of any kind), day planners, and shower caddies. They go through these items rather quickly and are always in need of more.
How Can You Help?
Small donations add up big time. We ask that you please bring journals/notebooks, day planners, and shower caddies to our April meeting (April 5th, 12 noon at Clabber Girl). We will also accept cash or check donations to purchase items to donate.
